International Women's Meetings
Speakers from eastern Africa, the Caribbean, Japan, Australia, and Canada are leading out in a series of meetings that organizers say is an "international celebration of faith." More than 2,000 women are expected to attend the event that is featuring such women such as Carol Porter, R.N., founder of Kid-Care in Houston, Texas, which feeds 1,300 hungry children daily; Canadian Kitty Maracle, a member of the Mohawk Nation of the Six Nations Reserve; Joy Gashaija, a church leader from Uganda; and American child development specialist Kay Kuzma. Zimbabwean doctor Mary Wangai will lead a seminar on ministering to people with AIDS. A number of panel discussions are also offered in French, Portuguese, and Spanish languages.
